The only thing that needs to get improved is the interface, but I know that this is just the beginnig. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hi, No problems.
Update binaries will update the precompiled binaries in your directory "/usr/local/lib".
If you want to remove them, you will also find a function "remove binaries" under the help menu. It will remove those binaries you updated or installed by PEnGUIn Encoder MP4 before, and then you can remove PEnGUIn Encoder MP4.
Thanks!!

Sure.
That part came from the mplayer project so that I didn't make a remove option in PEnGUIn Encoder MP4. But you still can use Terminal "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal", type the following command: (You might need to enable root user in NetInfo Manager of 10.4 or Directory Utilities of 10.5)
sudo rm -r /usr/local/lib/codecs
The directory "codes" will be removed.

Hi. I was using the 096E5 version, and it was working fine. Even when I played the files on my iPod they where perfect. But 2 days ago quick time was updated to version 7.5 and all my problems started! The video and audio aren't sincronized anymore... So I tried to use this new version, and it appears a message and the file created has the same problem... Please help me! I use Tiger on my Macbook. Thanks.

La'fear said...

Tati, Did you try 0.97b5? For Mactel computer, like your Macbook. I suggest to use the latest 0.97b5. And I didn't update Quicktime 7.5 yet. I will try it later...

Anonymous said...

Thanks. I will try...

Hi...I'm sorry, but I still need your help... I tryed the new version, but keeps coming a message saying that tasks were skipped where the file was created... I feel so bad, because the version that I was using was just perfect! I don't know if it was a coincidence or quicktime 7.5 broke something...Well I forgot to tell you that I convert rmvb files to mp4. I don't know if this information is relevant. I'm sorry to bother again, but I'm really sad... Your software is perfect, I'm sure that something else is messing all up. Thanks.

La'fear said...

Hi, Tatiana...
I think the problem maybe come from the rmvb file itself. The rmvb support came from the extra code which developed by mplayerhq.hu. There is no newer update recently. Therefore, not every rmvb can be transcoded to mp4 by mencoder now. I wish they can improve the rmvb support in the later version. By the way, you can also replace the .264 files to another place if they existed on you export destination. You can also use the "command + P" to see if the rmvb files can be transcoded in first 15 secs.
Thanks a lot!!

Hey, me again:( Sorry to bother, but about the rmvb thing that you said, I tested. I took a file that I converted before the problem appear and tried to convert again, and after I converted, it had the same problem with audio and video... That's so weird. Once I finally solve this problem, I will not update quicktime ever again. Are there other versions of penguin that I can test? Because the096E5, I downloaded with a link that you posted for somebody that was having problems with 097b1 (I think), and at that time it solved all my problems too. I even tryed to find a way to download again the 7.4.5 quicktime version to test if all gets better, but I didn't find it, everwhere they have only the new version... Well, thanks for your patience. If you think on anything else, please let me know.

Hi, Please don't mind for bothering. Without your feedback, I can't know how to improve the program. According the version you mentioned 0.96E5 and 0.97b1. I built two alpha & beta 0.97b5. Please have a trial. Thanks a lot!!

I would like to raise an issue regarding viewing the converted video file from the iPhone. For some strange reasons, the audio stops and then the video player crashes on the iPhone. It happened on all rmvb converted to mp4 using this software. Any clues? Thanks.

La'fear said...

Hi, Jason.
The rmvb to mp4 is really a mysterious stuff, some users report the same problem. I also test it by myself. Till now, the easiest way is to wait for the newer firmware for iphone/ipod touch. It will be released in these days, because the new iphone 3G will be shipped on July 11. Believe the newer movie player have improved the ability of playing mp4.
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
It would be great if you can include a Installation guideline. I am new to Mac and still struggling to install this sofware.
Thanks

La'fear said...

Hi, sourabh bora...
In fact the software won't need install, but if you have used the old version, just remember to update the binary under the help menu. And if you want to encode the rmvb file, remember install the extra binary, and the same under the help menu.
Thanks!!

Wonderful piece of software! Thank you so much. Only thing I would like is a little more control over subtitle color. I'm not complaining though, keep up the great work.

La'fear said...

Hi, Hodag!!
Color selection will be in the next release.
Thanks!!

Hello!!jnilson
For rmvb, do you install "get extra codes" under the help menu of PEnGUIn Encoder MP4?

jnilson said...

Hi la’fear,

It is a essential-macosx-x86-20060611.zip file, where should I save the extracted file?

La'fear said...

Yes, it is. Please unexpand the zip file, and you will see a pkg file. Just double-click and install it.

jnilson said...

Hi. The IPOD MP4 files converted from RMVB cannot be played by my IPOD. It is perfect under quicktime on my mac. What's the reason?

La'fear said...

Hi, Zhang,Yun..
Please remember update your ipod to the latest firmware, by the way, maybe you can try the profile setting from the 320x240x30fps? And there are many generations of ipod? Which one of your ipod? As I know, some ipod which is old genereation might not fully support mp4 well, and RMVB is not support mencoder fully either, maybe it's also another reason.

Hi,
how to join two AVI files and export to a single MP4 file?
Thanks!

La'fear said...

Hi!! Claudio...
Sorry for late reply. I suggest you can try following steps.
First, encode AVI to MP4.
Second, you can open multi MP4 files with QuickTime.
Third, use QuickTime's copy/paste to join MP4 files

I need your help for the other question.

What Font Code should i use for portuguese subtitle?
I tried to use font code LATIN2, but not work fine for me.

Thanks!

La'fear said...

Hi..Claudio....
Can you tell me which the default font encoding for portuguese? I think it should be the same to the font encoding of web browser. If need, I will add the more font encoding at the next release of PEnGUIn Encoder MP4. Thanks a lot!!

Claudio said...

I'm using font code UTF8, and now is everything ok!

Thanks!

Great!!! It's glad to hear that^^
